Classes are divided by grade level. In the 1st and 2nd grade classes, students will learn how to read, write, and pronounce uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet. We also use gestures and games to help students learn simple English expressions. In the 3rd and 4th grade classes, students will start reading short sentences and then aim to be able to speak them themselves. We also focus on writing using a writing pad. We will also use BLK's original Eiken vocabulary reading sheets. In the 5th and 6th grade classes, students will solve actual past exam questions and practice listening in preparation for the Eiken 5th and 4th grade exams. We will teach students to express what they want to say in sentences, not just in words. Every other week, Japanese instructors will spend about half of the lesson time focusing on grammar to solidify their understanding. We have also opened a grammar class taught by a Japanese instructor, so taking this in conjunction with the regular classes will lead to even greater understanding and solidification. In addition, we will prepare students for junior high school English by using textbooks for first-year junior high school students. If a class is cancelled, it can be rescheduled.
